time of your life v2.0
ASEAN DANCE 2005
today was a lovely day spent with my 'brothers and sisters'. had initially wanted to go for the dance directly from suntec but after attending the disappointing scholar's choice seminar cum exhibition, we decided to return to hostel first. got to know more about these close friends of mine, especially their shopping habits.
any short breaks today was spent on intense games of DotA.
well, this year's asean dance was held at pan pacific excelsior hotel. the bus left our hostel so early that when we arrived there was hardly anyone present. so much for the limited dinner time and all that rush hour. junior asean comm was really nice to allocate ushers to guide us to the dance venue, thank you!
my sole reason for turning this year was to shoot as many people in their pretty outfit, perpetually preserving that bit of glamour in a picture. a picture not only paints a thousand words, it resurrects memories back into the present. i failed to achieve my objective to take a photo with everyone i know, but i was successful to have snapped a few with people whom i hardly meet who are also dear to me.
the fast dance was never my favorite. even if i could master all the breakdance moves and grooves, it'll never be promoted to a rank equivalent to that of my no.1 favorite activity - making music. i tried recalling some of the moves i used to practise during my time as a councillor, but oh well, they're rather rusty ( and my dancing muscles too). slow dances were never my forte, the 'loyalist' in me still lingers and i don't seem to look forward to slow dances or even changing dance partners. haha. maybe that's why i'm relatively 'unsuccessful' [ ie. only one each year for both years ] as per compared to my roommates. =) oh well, my baby's still my sexy bass guitar and the firm drums. not forgetting my lovely 'sweetheart'.
although it was 'asean dance', i talked more than i danced that night. met fita and we discussed the type of music that SHOULD be played by the DJ, and we were thinking if they could play jazzy stuff or some oldies like those songs by frank sinatra.nat king cole would be great too; diana krall, norah jones, george benson - songs by all these people will just work magic especially for the slow dance component of asean dance.
i continued discussing my further education options when i bummed into h.hsing. we discussed about applying to oxbridge, but i guess i'm more against that option the more i discuss about it because
1. i don't want to rush my decision on my preferred choice of study
2. my final 3 options are very specialised each in their own right, and oxbridge courses seem a bit too general. (that's what i thought, but the stronger reason against oxbridge would be the first.)
my 3 final shortlisted choice of study
1. actuarial science
2. architecture
3. engineering, most likely specialising in civil.E or EEE
well, unless some significant thought or idea strike my mind then only i'll reconsider again. my throat hurts now after trying to speak amidst music blasting behind my hears for 3 hours or more. rest time and back to work again tomorrow!
